Everyone struggles a SOMETHING in school.
It is hard to manage studies, social interactions, AND sports. AND have to be great at everything!
It is the only time in life, that you are expected to be Great at it all! As an adult and even at college, you start to figure out what interests you when you begin to choose a major.
Students with LD often have an even harder time at this. For the most part, students with LD have a high IQ, but there scores in verbal and math based studies show large discrepancies. They often feel that they are not able to show their strengths in school.
That is why, as we read the many amazing applications at RiSE from LD students, we find if a student has a special interest or talent, it helps their confidence and helps them know that they are able to succeed. So how do we find that for ourselves or our child???
Well, here are some of the interests that our amazing applicants have shared:
Designing Computer Games
Volunteering at Camps
Traveling- one student went to over 22 countries…
